Metal Rocket

Blog imagesIn my newsletter that I sent out last week, I showed how to do the Faux Metal technique, because a few people had been asking about it. I used the rocket stamp from "Pun Fun" to make my metallic looking image, but it hadn't actually made it on to a completed card yet. Well, now it has!

After creating the silver rocket, I thought I needed to tie in a bit more silver, so I embossed a chipboard "5" with silver embossing powder. It was easy to choose some other elements to add, as stars always go well with rockets! And, I guess that my colour scheme was a bit 4th-of-July-inspired.

Supplies Used

Stamps:

Pun Fun, On Your Birthday, Nursery Necessities

Cardstock: Real Red, Whisper White, Basic Black, Brilliant Blue

Accessories: Chipboard, silver embossing powder, Various punches, paper piercing tool.

Christmas in July

Acetate Christmas card Now that it's July, it's time for me to start creating Christmas cards! I know that Christmas is still a very long time away, but it can take a long time to make enough cards for everyone on your Christmas card list.

So, here's one of my first attempts for this year, using the "Christmas Classics" stamp set. I stamped the tree on acetate, then used Crystal Effects and glitter on the back of the stamped image to give the sparkly colour.

This is one of the cards that we'll be making at my Christmas in July stamp-a-stack on July 24th, so please let me know if you'd like me to save you a spot!

Cardstock: Sweet Always DSP, Chocolate Chip, Regal Rose, Pink Pirouette, Whisper White

Inks: StazOn, Regal Rose.

Music for Tutus

019e screen small Yesterday we went to see the Babies Proms at the Sydney Opera House. The show was called "Music for Tutus" and it was fabulous! Here are Milly and Felicity afterwards on stage, each one wishing that she had been the ballerina in the show. Milly took dressing up in a tutu very seriously!

Same but Different...

Cheep talk pears I love it when a stamp set is versatile. This card is made from the same set that my previous card was made from, but I've used completely different images. No birds this time, even though I love them!

I made this card for a team Cyberstamp. It was based on a Clean and Simple sketch, which can be found here. Normally I procrastinate for ages over card design, so I find it very easy when the sketch is already done for me.

Supplies used

Stamps: Cheep Talk, On Your Birthday

Cardstock: Slumber Party speicalty DSP, Washington Apple DSP, Tangerine Tango, Riding Hood Red, Chocolate Chip

Inks: Kiwi Kiss, So Saffron, Tangerine Tango, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White

Accessories: So Saffron Stripey ribbon, scallop edge punch, 1" circle punch.

Cheep Talk

Cheep talkThis was another set that I loved as soon as I saw it in the Catalogue. I love how cute the bird images are. This card was pretty quick to make, as I used some Pink Pirouette Patterns Paper (now there's some alliteration for you!) as a feature of the card, which meant that I didn't even have to stamp a background. I sponged the Whisper White card with Blue Bayou ink in an attempt to make it look a bit more like sky!

Supplies Used

Stamps: Cheep Talk

Cardstock: Riding Hood Red, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White, Good Morning Sunshine DSP, Pink Pirouette Patterns DSP

Inks" Pink Pirouette, Riding Hood Red, Blue Bayou

Accessories: Choc Chip and Old Olive markers, Kiwi Kiss Grosgrain ribbon.

What's in the tin?

Owl tin A few days ago I posted about a card which was heading overseas as part of a gift. The card was one of the things packed inside this tin, which is a Stampin' Up! Pretties Kit tin. I loved the way the card size fitted perfectly into the window of the tin, because it meant that I could just do some simple rub-ons and Sticky Cuts on the front of the tin as decoration rather than needing to decorate or cover the whole thing.

There were some treats packed inside the tin, but it was also the perfect size to hold some 6 x 6 scrapbook pages. 6 x 6 is a fun size to work with, because you can complete a page fairly quickly, which is great for a procrastinating scrapbooker like me, who normally takes forever to get anything finished!

So here's one of the pages that was inside... my 2 year old demonstrating her "cranky face"!
